Summary

The Active Travel Plan – Primary Evidence Base report provides the first data-led evidence to support Active Travel on the Island. The plan comprises the development of a conceptual walking and cycling network. This includes the development of the following:

A) Island Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

The Island Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan provides a long‐term strategic approach to developing cycling and walking networks for the whole of Jersey, usually over a 10-year period. It identifies a network of cycle routes radiating out of St Helier and leisure cycle routes around the Island. It also identifies five core walking zones and key walking routes within St Helier.

B) St Helier Mobility Plan

The five core walking zones and key walking routes identified in the Island Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan makes up a specific town centre Mobility Plan to support Jersey’s ambitions for the shift to sustainable transport modes. The St Helier Mobility Plan aims to build on the St Helier Public Realm and Movement Strategy to reduce the impact of through‐vehicular traffic upon streets in the town centre to create more space for people in the town centre and enable mode shift to walking, cycling and public transport.
