More than 50 employers and industry bodies will gather this Wednesday 8 September, for Careers Jersey’s first combined Careers and Jobs Fair.

The event takes place at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel from 3pm – 8pm and is open to islanders of all ages and career stages. A wide range of career and employment information will be available at the event, with the following industries represented:

  • construction
  • architecture
  • health
  • education
  • sport development
  • youth work
  • media
  • marketing
  • finance
  • recruitment
  • insurance
  • hospitality
  • armed forces
  • engineering

As well as advice on routes into industry, many employers will be promoting current job vacancies at the fair, from entry-level roles such as airline cabin crew and waiting staff to positions requiring professional qualifications, such as chartered accountancy.

The Careers Jersey team will of course be on hand to offer careers advice and guidance, CV help and to answer higher education queries.

Head of Careers and Learning Support, Andy Gibbs, said “We’re delighted with the response to the combined Careers and Jobs Fair. We recognise that in the current employment market many people are facing uncertainty regarding their career direction. By providing job and career opportunities under one roof, we hope to help people to make an informed decision about their future.”

The 2010 Careers and Jobs Fair is  sponsored by Jersey Construction Council, as part of Jersey Construction Week, which begins on Monday 6 September. The Jersey Construction Council Chairman of the Education, Training and Professional Development Committee, David Morris, said “We are really proud to be associated with the Careers and Jobs Fair. We see it as a fantastic opportunity to profile the exciting range of careers within the construction industry, as well as to recruit local job seekers into the roles currently available.”

A series of free industry talks will also take place throughout the afternoon. Times and venues can be found on Careers Jersey Facebook page.
