New Deaf Awareness and Communication course

12 September 2023

As part of the Government's Disability and Inclusion Strategy and commitment to provide more support and opportunities for Islanders, the Assistant Minister for Social Security, Deputy Malcolm Ferey is delighted to announce a new Deaf Awareness and Communication course beginning on 28 September until 7 December 2023 at Highlands College.

The course is an introduction to enhancing communication and is an ideal opportunity for those in client facing roles to learn how they can support and communicate with deaf people.

Assistant Minister for Social Security, Deputy Malcolm Ferey said: "Following the recruitment of our dedicated Community Engagement Officer, it is important that we continue to provide our dDeaf community with the right support that can give them the independence to carry out their day-to-day tasks.

"This course will give people a Signature Level 1 understanding of the skills and knowledge to enable this to happen and I would encourage enrolment on to this course so people can make a positive difference in the community."

More details about the course are available online.
