Request

For the last 15 years, can I please have the totals of earnings for individual islanders (not businesses) broken down by income from Jersey employment, income from renting a room in Jersey, and separately income from Bank Interest, Income from Dividends, Income from loan interest, income from trusts, settlements or foundations, income from "other investment income" with these totals broken down by Jersey Income and "Non-Jersey Income".

This is information that is requested and completed as part of the Jersey Personal Income Tax Return Form.

Response

The move from the ITAX system to the Revenue Management System in 2018 means that data from earlier years is not comparable with that from 2019 onwards. It has been estimated that providing consistently comparable information for the years requested would exceed the 12.5 hours allowed for Freedom of Information responses in accordance with Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied.

Article applied

Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
