Parenting support services at The Bridge

Parenting support services

We aim to help mums, dads and carers by providing education, advice and guidance about positive parenting. We offer a number of courses and activities and these are based on the age of your child.

Each family is different but we aim to provide help that will be useful when you are thinking about the needs and behaviour of your own children.

Drop in facility

We have a confidential drop-in service for any parents or carers who have questions or need to talk. This is available on a Friday from 9am to 12pm and is led by an experienced, qualified counsellor.

One to one sessions

Free confidential consultations with a counsellor are available for parents and carers. Book by phone on  + 44 (0) 1534 449481.

Programmes

Our programmes cover parenting theory and skills you might need as you child grows from birth to puberty. The programmes are run by trained staff and give parents an opportunity to share ideas, practise skills and learn about a child's development and the physical changes that take place as they grow.

We look at issues such as:

  • sleeping problems
  • weaning
  • toileting
  • interaction with young children
  • teenage matters such as sexting, bullying, social networking and attending school

These are group sessions and enable people to reflect on successes and develop different strategies for effective parenting.

The aim is to help parents / carers to find out how they can help their child develop literacy skills.

The club welcomes pre-school children with mum, dad or carer.

It is a fun time that puts emphasis on music, stories and rhyme and singing and gives parents / carers a space to relax and enjoy time with their child.
