Economics Unit
The Economics Unit provides economic advice to all States Departments on matters of economic policy and the Jersey economy. This involves working closely with the Treasury and Resources, Economic Development and Chief Minister's departments and any other States departments that require economic advice. This can range from detailed policy analysis on the merits of various taxation changes, to the impact of government expenditure and ways to encourage economic growth.
Understanding and interpreting the drivers of the Jersey economy and where it is heading are other important functions. The Unit assesses the likely direction of the economy and the factors influencing it to inform Ministries, where appropriate. The Economics Unit works closely with the Statistics Unit to ensure there is adequate data provision to monitor the economy.
