Statistics Users Group
In November 1999 the States of Jersey approved a proposition of the Policy and Resources Committee, that an independent body should be established to oversee the quality, relevance and integrity of the statistics compiled by or on behalf of the States departments. It was proposed that this body, the Statistics User Group (S.U.G), should be made up of a chairman (who would be neither a member of the States nor an official of a Department of the States), a secretary who would be the Head of Statistics of the States of Jersey Statistics Unit and up to 10 members from the island's business community, labour force and general public.
The role of the group remains to review and comment upon any official statistics prepared, or published by the States of Jersey, terms of reference. The group aims to operate in an open and transparent manner with minutes of meetings and papers available via this website.
The group welcomes comment on the Official Statistics produced in Jersey and can be contacted directly via email status@gov.je or by post addressed to The Statistics Users Group, PO Box 140, 5th Floor, Cyril le Marquand House, St Helier, JE4 8QT.
