Censuses have been undertaken in Jersey since 1821, the most recent being the 2001 Census which took place on 11 March 2001.
The Jersey Census provides a detailed snap shot picture of the population. It covers issues such as household structure, tenure, employment, educational and professional qualifications as well as providing a detailed demographic picture of the Island.
Following the States decision on 18th January 2006, the next Jersey Census will be held in 2011.
