What is Regulated Child Care?

The care of children from babies up to the age of twelve years, for longer than two hours, by persons who are not a close relative, for reward, must regulated under the terms of the Day Care of Children (Jersey) Law, 2002.

Regulated Child Care is categorised in two types:

1. Centre Care, which is found in a variety of settings, which may be purpose built, in converted or rented premises, church halls, community centres, or in a school at out of school times. The hours of opening vary in accordance with the type of service being offered, but will only occur during the day.
