Bureau de Jersey
Responsibility for the Bureau de Jersey lies with the Economic Development Department. The office itself is situated in Caen, Lower Normandy’s regional capital. A second office in Rennes was opened in 2007 with support from the Conseil Général d'Ille et Vilaine, in Brittany.
Formerly known as La Maison de Jersey, the office was established by the Jersey government in 1998. Its principal objective was to increase links between Jersey and its neighbouring regions of Normandy and Brittany, in the key areas of commerce, education, culture, tourism and sport. The staff also have close working relations with government departments in Jersey, La Manche, Ille et Vilaine and Paris. Since its establishment the Bureau de Jersey has also become a respected source of advice and assistance for both French and Jersey people wishing to know more about the respective regions.
The telephone number for the Bureau is 00.33.231.38.21.40

French Officer Working Group
The French Officer Working Group (“FOWG”) was established early in 2005 in accordance with Recommendation 34 of the Report on "Relations between Jersey and France" issued by the Policy and Resources Department in 2004. The FOWG is administered by the International Relations Division of the Chief Minister's Department and chaired by the International Relations and Policy Officer.
The remit of the Working Group is to assist States departments to work towards achieving the vision statement agreed in the Report, namely:
" A common future in which Jersey and France work together to the benefit of both communities, forming partnerships to develop trade, cultural and social exchange. It is a future based upon the common principles of diversity, mutual benefit, and greater freedom of choice."
The FOWG membership is made up of representatives from States departments who work closely with France, the staff of the Bureau de Jersey and co-opted members from outside organisations such as the Chamber of Commerce. One of the key objectives of the Group is to establish a wide network of contacts to assist in both the development of the partnerships referred to in the vision statement and to facilitate good working relations between the Island and France and in particular with the neighbouring regions of Normandy and Brittany.
