Among its many responsibilities, Economic Development has responsibility for looking after the Jersey side of the Channel Islands Lottery, and for gambling control in Jersey, under the Gambling (Jersey) Law (1964) (as amended) and associated regulations.

Our aims and objectives in this area are:

  • To promote and administer the Channel Islands Lottery as it relates to Jersey

There are 29 licensed betting offices in Jersey together with three credit betting offices and occasional bookmaking during the Jersey Track season. There are also approximately 250 registered associations, clubs and charities operating licensed lotteries, bingo and cinema racing annually.

We deal with more than 900 gambling-related enquiries each year, and we receive more than 300 corporate enquiries concerning the use of lotteries and competitions in the marketing of products.
