Jersey showcased at Internet World!
Jersey businesses recently attended one of the world’s leading digital and internet trade fairs in London.
Jersey’s Economic Development Department helped eight companies to attend the trade show Internet World, an award-winning exhibition created to update business decision-makers on the latest developments in IT and facilitate business to business relationships.
Wayne Gallichan, Director of International Trade and Inward Investment explained: “The event was a success and bringing these eight companies to the event allowed them to show-case the depth of the Island’s e-business capacity.
“Additionally, having the Jersey companies in one purpose built area meant that Jersey stood out as a region and made a bigger impact than if they had all attended individually,” he said.
The Jersey delegates agreed and Chris Evans, Managing Director of Foreshore Limited said: “The initiative by Jersey Enterprise (EDD) to represent the island, and support a collection of local businesses at the recent Internet World, is to be warmly encouraged. Whilst Jersey's brand is strong in its traditional activities, it needs reinforcing around electronic business, which is vital for successful economic diversity. For Foreshore, Internet World provided an opportunity to find new business opportunities and the company looks forward to being involved in helping identify, and attending, similar events in the future.”
Grant Twine from Basel Global agreed: “Attending this event was a great opportunity for our company to show an entirely new market what we can offer. It enabled us to create new business opportunities and reach a wider market and, now that we are back in Jersey, we are working hard to turn these excellent leads into real business opportunities.”
The Economic Development Department assisted eight companies to attend the event - Basel Global, Cronus Consultancy Ltd, Evolution, Foreshore, Indigo Lighthouse, Itex, The Idea Works and Web Reality.
The business-to-business event was held at Earls Court from 29 April –
1 May and this year it attracted approximately 12,000 business delegates.
