Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards Service
Protecting and encouraging confidence for the consumer within a fair trading environment
About us
The Trading Standards Service is responsible for the enforcement of a range of legislation controlling the distribution of goods and services throughout the manufacturing, importation, distribution and retail chain.
Its remit includes weights and measures, product safety, consumer advice, trade descriptions and trade mark protection.
Through the enforcement of consumer protection laws, the service helps protect the interests of both consumers and businesses by ensuring a fair trading environment. A free confidential consumer advisory service is available to assist consumers and businesses alike. The service will also investigate allegations of unfair trade practices and provide appropriate advice and guidance where necessary.
It should be noted that the service covers Jersey only and not the other Channel Islands, namely Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. More information about our beautiful island can be found here.
