Jersey Apprenticeship Scheme
Apprenticeships are designed for individuals who are beginning or developing a career in a traditional craft area. Whether you are a school leaver or looking for a career change, the Jersey Apprenticeship Scheme will provide you and your employer with support to become a skilled technician. Once enrolled on the scheme you will receive both on and off-the-job training and achieve nationally recognised qualifications.
Enterprise and Business Development offers up to £8,500 to the employer for a four-year apprenticeship, plus additional grant payments to the apprentice upon successful attainment of a level II and level III qualification. The scheme supports apprenticeships in the following trades:
- Carpentry or Joinery
- Electricians
- Food Preparation
- Hairdressing
- Mechanical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication
- Motor Vehicle Engineering
- Painting and Decorating
- Plumbing and Heating
- Trowel Trades
Employer Accreditation
Before a business can register a potential apprentice on the Jersey Apprenticeship Scheme, there is a requirement for the employer to become accredited. This includes completing the trade specific 'Employer Accreditation Information' document and signing and agreeing the Jersey Apprenticeship Scheme Agreement.

Q: How do I enrol?
A: If you are already employed, ask your employers to contact Enterprise and Business Development. If you are not in employment, go to the Careers Service.
Q: How long will it take?
A: Four years for a Level III qualification that meets the trade standards.

Appeals Policy
