Health and Safety Inspectorate Annual Report 2020

​The annual report summarises the work of the Inspectorate, provides information on our performance and presents statistical data on claims for sickness benefit due to work-related accidents and ill-health during 2020.  

It is acknowledged that publication of this report is significantly delayed, which is due to the unprecedented and extremely challenging impact of Covid-19 on the operational capacity of the Inspectorate over the past 18 months. In addition to ensuing effective and proportionate regulation of the significant health and safety risks inherent in many local workplaces, the Inspectorate became the primary regulator for complex and rapidly changing legislation relating to Covid-19 mitigations in the workplace.  

Further discussion of the impact on the operations of the Inspectorate will be included in the 2021 Annual Report as this additional area of responsibility continued at pace during 2021.
