Could you please provide me with the figures per quarter for year 2014 and 2015, for the number of issued categories per registration card for:

  • Entitled
  • Licensed
  • Entitled to work
  • Registered

Response

In respect of registration cards issued by the Social Security Department with `Entitled’ status, they may either show a status of ‘Entitled’, in addition to an expiry date, or ‘Permanent Entitled’ with no expiry date. For the sake of completeness, the figures provided below reflect both.

Entitled – An individual who is Entitled is qualified for the purposes of employment and the lease or purchase of qualified property on the Island. They will have completed at least the last 10 years continuous residence in the Island, and their Entitled status is subject to their maintaining continuous residence. An individual with Entitled status may, however, leave the Island for an aggregate period of 5 years without their status being affected.

Permanent Entitled - An individual who has Permanent Entitled status is also qualified for the purposes of employment and the lease and purchase of qualified property on the Island. Broadly speaking, these will be persons who are Jersey born, or are the children of Entitled parents, and have completed an aggregate period of 10 years residence in the Island. It also includes persons who have completed a continuous period of 30 years residence in the Island. Their Entitled status is unaffected by any absences from the Island.
