Request

A

How many children in Jersey are home schooled?

B

How many children in Jersey have been home schooled in Jersey over the past 10 years?

C

Can you break this down year by year?

D

Can you break down the percentage of young people in Jersey who have been home schooled for the past 10 years?

Response

A

42 children are currently home schooled.

B and C

The number of children in Jersey that are educated other than at school (EOTAS) is outlined, and broken down by year, in a previous Freedom of Information (FOI) request and is therefore exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011. The previous response is available on www.Gov.je at the following link:

Home Schooled FOI

D

Academic Year Percentage of compulsory school-age population that are home-schooled (EOTAS)
2016 to 20170.3%
2015 to 20160.3%
2014 to 20150.3%
2013 to 20140.2%
2012 to 20130.1%

Please note that due to the small numbers of students in the years preceding 2012 to 2013 and the likelihood of being able to identify the individuals, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 Law has been applied to part of request D.

The number of children with EOTAS status has been determined during the summer term of each academic year.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if:

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and
