Request

Could you share the amount spent by the hospital on beds and equipment for oversized patients over the past ten years.

Could you break this down by year, amount and items bought.

Response

Information prior to 2011 is not held in a format that differentiates bariatric (oversized) equipment. In order to identify bariatric equipment the Health & Social Services Department would have to review every item of expenditure which would exceed the time limits permitted by the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

Information for the period 2011 to 2015 is available within a previous Freedom of Information response, available through the following link:

Bariactic beds and equipment (FOI)

The table below provides details of the bariatric equipment purchased within the equipment replacement programme for 2016 to 2018.

The table lists equipment that has been specifically bought to increase capability to care appropriately for bariatric patients. The majority of items may also be used for non-bariatric patients.
