How many Freedom of Information (FOI) requests have the States received over the past ten years? Could you break this down by year?

Could you also answer how many FOI requests have been answered in that time - broken down by year?

How many have been refused?

D

How many have needed further clarification?

If you could also let me know how many have not been answered during that time and if any responses have taken longer than the usual time limit but not because further clarification was needed.

Response

The Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 came in to force in January 2015. Data is therefore only available from that date.

A

* Number of requests includes all requests received, therefore also includes invalid requests and Subject Access Requests.

B and C

* The authority can request clarification from a requester in order to be able to answer a request. If clarification is not received the request is closed.

** The majority of refusals cover those requests where the whole request is refused. This therefore does not take into account those requests where part of the response is refused as it would be over the time cost limit or where another exemption is applied to part of the request.

*** In 2015 refusals were not coded separately. Refusing a request due to application of exemptions was coded as a completion, and should still be considered a completed request.

There have been no instances where a response to a valid Freedom of Information request has not been provided (responses include refusals/application of exemptions).
