B.

Also total wage bill in 2014 is up by £1million to £18,769,253 if locums/consultant figures have remained constant where has the extra wage bill come from? Have you employed a new department/had a recruitment drive/increased wages significantly or something?

Response

A.

Some consultants have been given extra remuneration for clinical work cover. This cover is recognised as a necessary requirement, and is in accordance with Royal College/insurance recommendations. A further cause was internal locum payments to provide cover for leave, sick leave.

B.

The total wage bill has not increased by £1 million. The true figure is £742,137.
