I would like to understand how many professional drivers are available with Jersey licences ie capable of driving HGV & PSV locally.  I believe the categories are:

PSV

Taxicab

Omnibus

Charabanc

Minibus

HGV

C1 (medium goods)

C1+E (medium goods + trailer)

C (heavy goods)

C+E   (articulated)

However, please be aware that it is both the total number of persons with a particular category and the total number of licenced drivers I am looking for. By way of example, I personally would be included in four of the above categories but would count as one professional driver.

Response

The information that is held by the department is included the tables below, as at 16 November 2015.

The figures show those licenced to drive the relevant categories. This is not an indication of the number of individuals who may or may not be using their licence to work as a professional driver.  The department does not hold information on those licence holders who may currently not be residing in the Island or who have passed away since their licence was issued/last renewed. The figures include all drivers aged from 18 to 101.

Exemptions and refusals

Regulation 2(1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information. To answer this question as specified would take more than 12.5 hours of work; therefore the department is unable to provide the answer to this question.
