Earnings
The Index of Average Earnings measures changes in earnings (gross wages and salaries, excluding bonuses) paid to employees. The data is collected for a large representative sample of firms in the private sector, covering nearly two-thirds of Jersey’s working population as well as all States of Jersey departments.
Care is needed in comparisons between the private and public sectors due to the presence of some 2-year pay deals in the public sector in previous years.

The Index of Average Earnings measures income from employment only. More detailed information about total household income can be found from the Income Distribution Survey carried out in 2009/10.
