Summary

​This report describes life expectancy in Jersey for the period 2019-2021 and compares this to historical data to look at trends over time as well as to neighbouring jurisdictions.

Period life expectancy (LE) at a given age for an area is the average number of years a person would live, if he or she experienced the particular area's age-specific mortality rates for that time period throughout his or her life.

New born males in Jersey could expect to live, on average, for 81.9 years if the current age specific mortality rates applied to them throughout their life. New born females could expect to live, on average, for 85.4 years.

On average, a 65 year old male could expect to live for 20.0 more years, and a 65 year old female could expect to live for 22.8 more years.
