Aubin Ward
Lead Consultant : Dr David Ng, Consultant MB ChB MD FRCP
Location:
Aubin ward is located at the General Hospital and can be accessed from the Gloucester Street Entrance.
What we do:
Gastroenterology is the study of the stomach, bowel and liver. The medical team consists of a specialist registrar in Gastroenterology, and a junior house officer.
Endoscopy, the examination of the stomach, and large bowel (colon) with a flexible telescope, is performed in the endoscopy unit based on Aubin Ward at the General Hospital. Sr. Lesley Pitman leads the friendly, specially trained nurses on Aubin Ward, and is training to perform endoscopy. Sr Pitman is supported by Sister Michelle Kemp. We are also fortunate to have the services of Dr Eva Slater, as our GP endoscopist.
The equipment used within the unit has been modernised over the past 2 years, making the procedures safer and more comfortable for the patient. There is also an intention to screen for colon cancer in patients over 60 according to NHS initiatives. The aim of the unit is to continue improving the quality of service for the people of Jersey. Clinical physiological studies undertaken by the Clinical Investigations Department include: - Ambulatory Ph Monitoring
- Oesophageal Manometry
- C13 breath Tests
