Unit Philosophy
Nursing care models are being constantly explored to ensure that practice remains dynamic and evidence based. The multidisciplinary team on the unit are committed to delivering high professional standards and offer their expertise to you and your family.

We believe that the patient/client:

· Is of central importance to the activities of the ward

· Has the right to be treated holistically and with dignity

· Is worthy of care, consideration and respect

Our aim is to maximise your health and self care by using a problem solving approach to:

· Undertake or assist you to perform those activities which you cannot carry out for yourself at present

· Co-ordinate and facilitate care which will encourage you to be as independent as possible

We believe that care should be based on a foundation of utilising:

· Evidence based knowledge

· Opportunities to act as change agents to promote well being

· Professional development to enhance our skills/roles as communicators, carers, educators and advocate

Staff caring for you are members of a professional body/organisation and fully accept the commitment required to deliver care which is suited to your needs.

We have our own kitchen and qualified chefs who welcome you with the assurance that only fresh seasonal produce from local suppliers are selected for you ensuring the fullest flavours and nutrients aid your recovery. Our Chefs Barry, Josef and David will discuss your daily menus and any further requirements to your diet.

Physiotherapy Service
The physiotherapists that work within private patient services are private practitioners and are State Registered members of the Chartered Society of physiotherapists. Physiotherapy will be commenced at the request of your consultant, General Practitioner or nursing staff. Your physiotherapist will liaise with medical staff to provide the best treatment for your condition. Routine treatments are generally carried out in the morning and if you require treatment in the afternoon a physiotherapist will come and see you. There is a physiotherapist on call 7 days a week. For many conditions outpatient treatment will be necessary and your physiotherapist will be happy to discuss the services available to you and make any arrangements. Our aim is to facilitate your independence and we look forward to working with you to achieve this aim.

In patient treatment charges are available on request.

The team is co-ordinated by Judy Dickson, and includes Jessica Fuller and Charlotte Le Sauteur. For patients under the care of Mr Twiston-Davies the physiotherapist will be Lesley Sanderson.

This will relate to the accommodation charge which includes nursing, catering and oral medication, any physiotherapy and an operating charge if applicable. Accounts for services provided by Consultants including anaesthetists, pathologists and radiologists will be sent from them separately. With private medical insurance policies, if treatment has been pre-authorised with the company the hospital account can be sent to the company directly. In other instances a claim form may need to be completed. Unless paying their own costs patients do not need to pay us directly. Completed claim forms should be sent to the insurers with the accounts and they in turn pay us. We have an agreed contract with the major medical insurance providers.
