Fostering
Jersey looks after between 70 & 80 children at any one time, many of whom already live with foster carers. Many other children however, are not able to have this opportunity as more carers are urgently needed. While almost anyone can apply to be a foster carer, as with any career, some people will be more suited to it than others.
Sean Pontin, Manager of Fostering & Adoption Jersey says, ‘Jersey needs all sorts of carers for all sorts of children. Foster carers have a vital role to play in giving children in care the best possible start in life. Foster carers must be able to offer the time, commitment, space and skills to care for children separated from their own families. Children in care can benefit enormously from the chance to experience a stable family life. If you think you are a good listener, resilient, flexible, optimistic and a great role model we would love to hear from you.’
