Skilled work permits - Legal, IT or Finance
The advertising requirement may be dispensed with if it is intended to second an established overseas employee from the same organisation (intra company transfer) for a specific project or for training and development purposes. Applications are not considered for salaries of less than £35,000 per year (except for intra company transfers), are processed as follows:
• Long version of the work permit application together with the appropriate fee.
• Copy of the personal details page of the passport and, if applicable, the page showing the current UK Immigration endorsement. Also, copies of the passports of any dependants who qualify.
• Full job description.
• Curriculum vitae, references and qualifications.
• Evidence of advertising.
• Accommodation is to be provided by the employer. If a (j) category consent has not been obtained from the Housing Department, arrangements are usually made for suitable "unqualified" accommodation (for example: hotel, self-catering apartment or lodging house). There are occasions when employees will find their own which is acceptable.
• A draft contract of employment is required or details of the terms and conditions.
Note:
• In the case of professionally qualified accountants and lawyers, earning £35,000 or more per year, only an application form and a copy of the personal details page of the passport and, if applicable, the page showing the current UK Immigration endorsement, will be necessary. Also, copies of the passports of any dependants who qualify.
• In the case of secondments only an application form and a copy of the personal details page of the passport and, if applicable, the page showing the current UK Immigration endorsement will be necessary for secondments. Also, copies of the passports of any dependants who qualify.
