Registration of Deaths

Every death that occurs in the Island must be registered by the registrar of the parish in which the death occurred within a period of five days from the date of death.

If an inquest or post-mortem examination is ordered, the period of five days for registration is extended.

The registration of the death is free, but a certified extract from the death register (a death certificate) can be obtained from the registrar of the parish in which the death occurred on payment of £10.00.
