Data Protection
The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation and compliance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005. The Commissioner maintains a statutory register of personal data users who process personal information in Jersey, provides advice and guidance to both Island businesses and individuals, and makes recommendations to the States of Jersey in response to international data protection legislative changes.
Regulation of Undertakings and Development
The Population Office is responsible for administering the Regulation of Undertakings and Development Law, and is accountable to the Economic Development Minister.
The Law is designed to control the carrying on of trade, business or profession, and balances the need for economic growth with demand on the Island's resources.
Trading Standards
The Trading Standards Service enforces consumer protection laws and provides a comprehensive consumer and business advisory service.
