Average earnings in Jersey have increased by 1.1%, according to the latest Index of Average Earnings report released by the Statistics Unit.
The Index of Average Earnings measures changes in earnings (gross wages and salaries, excluding bonuses) paid to employees in June each year. Figures from the latest report show that:
- average earnings in June 2010 in Jersey were 1.1% higher than in June 2009
- the latest increase is the lowest since the Index of Average Earnings was introduced in 1990
- average earnings in the private sector increased by 1.1%
- public sector earnings rose by 1.1% over the year to June 2010
The data is collected from all States of Jersey Departments and a large representative sample of firms in the private sector, covering nearly two-thirds of Jersey’s working population.
