Plans for future at Fort for All Day

20 October 2014

Islanders will have another chance to hear first-hand what the new plans for Fort Regent have to offer and to ask any questions they may have.

Two presentations will be given in the Don Theatre by Stephen Ross-Gower of local architectural firm Ross-Gower Associates on Sunday 26 October at Fort for All Day. Ross-Gower Associates are part of a consortium of local firms appointed by the Rediscovering Fort Regent Steering Group earlier this year to undertake a development study.

The presentation will be given at 11am and then again at 2:30pm. Each will be followed by a question and answer session. Members of the Steering Group will also be on hand throughout the day to speak with the public about the project.

Meeting expectations

“This year’s Fort for All Day is the perfect forum for promoting the new plans again and I hope that as many Islanders as possible will take the opportunity to have a look. Fort Regent is at a critical crossroads and this is our chance to ensure it meets its potential and the expectations of those who use it now and would do so in the future,” said the Chairman of the Steering Group and Assistant Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy Eddie Noel.

The plans were first presented to the public in September and have since been available to view online. Around 70 people attended the meeting to hear the proposal for the future of the Fort.

The proposed plans are intended to form part of a business case for which funding will be sought in the 2016 to 2019 Medium Term Financial Plan.

More information is available on the Rediscovering Fort Regent Facebook page as well as on the States webpage.
