Funding becomes available for tourism initiatives

23 September 2014

Non-profit and private organisations are being invited to apply for grants to support events or projects that will attract additional visitors to Jersey and help stimulate the tourism industry.

Organisations wishing to apply to the Tourism Development Fund (TDF) should be able to demonstrate that their event or project:

  • will bring more visitors to the Island
  • can attract additional funding from other sources
  • will create sustainable ventures in the years to come

Tourism Development Fund successes

The fund, which is sponsored by the States of Jersey under the direction of the Economic Development Department, has previously provided financial support for a wide range of tourism initiatives including the development of Jersey Heritage sites as self-catering accommodation, helping to bring the Tour de Bretagne to Jersey, and supporting an international chess tournament.

TDF chairman Peter Funk said “The Tourism Development Fund can provide investment to enable organisations to turn ideas into reality. We look forward to seeing a wide range of proposals that can bring sustainable and tangible tourism benefits to Jersey over the longer term.”

Applying to the TDF, and how to get help

Businesses and non-profit organisations have until 5pm on Friday 17 October to apply. The TDF Panel will evaluate the applications and announce the resulting grants during November and early December.

Free and confidential advice on how to apply is available from Jersey Business, the Jersey Tourism website, and by contacting the Economic Development Department.
