Avian Influenza Temporary Import Ban on Poultry Lifted
Poultry Import Ban Lifted
Environment Minister Freddie Cohen has lifted the temporary ban on import of poultry from UK following confirmation of Avian Influenza in Oxfordshire on 3 June. Imports will now be permitted under licence from areas outside the Protection and Surveillance Zones round the Infected Premises.
“The small risk to Jersey’s poultry has diminished as no further incidents of disease have been identified by Defra and both culling and disposal and cleaning and disinfection have been completed on the Infected Premises. It is absolutely reasonable to resume licensed imports from outside the areas of movement restriction round the Infected Premises” stated Freddie Cohen.
