The Countryside
The Environment Division aims to conserve the countryside of Jersey and the wildlife and people it supports. The work is very varied, from protecting agricultural land for the use of the industry, to habitat and species projects that range from ecological research to actual practical management. This work is supported by various international obligations as well as local legislation and policy including: Protection of Agricultural Land (Jersey) Law 1964; Agricultural Land (Control of Sales and Leases) (Jersey) Law 1974; Island Planning (Jersey) Law 1964; Conservation of Wildlife (Jersey) Law 2000; Policing of Parks (Jersey) Regulations 1962.

Countryside Renewal Scheme The Countryside Renewal Scheme provides funding to farmers, landowners and managers for projects that provide environmental benefit to the people and wildlife of Jersey. Ecological Research and Monitoring The Environment Department's Ecological Sciences Team are responsible for carrying out ecological research, surveillance and monitoring in order to assist wildlife protection, management and policy development. The Natural Environment The Environment Division's Countryside Management Team is responsible for the management and conservation of much of the environmentally sensitive land in Jersey.
