Marine Management

This section deals with the marine environment. Jersey's coastline is an ecological area of international importance as recognised by Ramsar designation of the South East Coast and our offshore reefs. Our coastal zone is under pressure from development and increasing use and the recently lodged Integrated Coastal Zone Strategy 'Making the Most of Jersey's Coast' sets out a series of policies and actions to protect this valuable area. Our local waters contain a variety of species that support our fisheries industry and these pages also contain information on fisheries policy and legislation as well as outlining the ongoing research and monitoring carried out by the Department.
