Building Services
Permissions and Applications
Builders and developers are required to obtain Building Permission – a process which provides an independent check to ensure that the requirements of the building bye-laws have been complied with.
The Building Control Section deals with building bye-laws, which ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings by setting requirements for building design and construction. The bye-laws also promote energy efficiency and aim to improve access for disabled people.
Building Bye-Laws & Technical Guidance
Planning and Building Services administer the Building Bye-Laws (Jersey) which set standards for building work. Their aim is to ensure that buildings are safe and healthy places in which all people can live and work.
Technical Guidance Documents give examples of how work can be carried out in a way which will conform to the building bye-laws.
