Further Information

Part One - Introduction

This subsidy is to help anyone who cannot tolerate gluten in their diet, and so needs to buy essentials, such as specially treated bread and pasta that are gluten free. As gluten has been removed, these products are expensive and so the subsidy is to help to cover the additional cost.

Part Two - How to Claim

An application form can be obtained from the Social Security Department. Both you and your doctor need to complete the form and then return it to us. We will advice you of our decision.  The approval of the application is based on medical grounds.

Part Three - How the Subsidy is provided

If your claim is approved and you are entitled to the subsidy, then you will be sent voucher books every four weeks. These vouchers may be used to buy essential gluten-free foods from known retailers as listed below. When you purchase your gluten-free products you should be aware that retailers are not obliged to give change when the price of the goods is less than the face value of the voucher.
