Income Support

Jersey has changed the way it gives financial support to those who need it. The new system is simple and fair and is targeted to meet people's needs.

Since 28 January 2008 many of the benefits paid by the States and the Parishes have been replaced by a single Income Support benefit. This benefit is made up of components and helps people and families with living costs, housing costs, medical care and childcare. The amount of benefit received depends on the income and assets of the household unit.

Regular weekly payments are available, as well as single one-off payments to meet larger costs. Income Support is available from the Social Security Department and from various Parish Halls.
