New telephone numbers for Transport and Technical Services and Planning and Environment Departments

Telephone numbers for the Transport and Technical Services Department (formerly Public Services) and the Planning and Building Services offices (based at South Hill) of the Planning and Environment Department will change from Monday 5 June 2006 as part of the continuing upgrade of the public service telephone system. The new main numbers are :

Transport and Technical Services Department    445509
Emergency after hours number                                        725351
Septic Tankers 448524
Driver and Vehicle Standards   448600
Parks and Gardens 448616
Parking Control (from 8 June) 448660
Planning and Environment Department 445508

The upgrade involves the phased introduction of a single, States-wide telephone system to replace the many different systems currently used by departments. This will help the States deliver services more efficiently and save half a million pounds a year. Once the project is finished every States number will have changed.

For a limited period, people who call the main Transport and Technical Services (TTS) or Planning and Environment (P&E) numbers will diverted to the new number at no cost to them. Calls to all other old TTS or P&E numbers will not be diverted.

A fuller list of the new telephone numbers is available on the States website www.gov.je under Fast Find / Customer Services. In most cases, if you want to phone TTS and the old number started with 601, the new number will be 448 plus the last three digits of the old number. For example; if the existing number is 601690, when the number changes callers should dial 448690. If you’re phoning DVS, Parking Control or Parks and Gardens, in most cases you can replace the first four digits of the old telephone number with 4486.

Telephone numbers for the Environment Department will change later this month.
