Half Permit Information
What are they? A monthly Half Permit is a convenient way of paying for your parking for a month in one of the public car parks which are further from the centre of St Helier. These Car Parks are charged at half the normal rate – 1 unit for up to 2 hours.
Where can I buy a Half Permit? They can only be bought from the Car Park Administration Office in Sand Street Car Park.
How much do they cost? Currently a Half Permit costs £47.38 per month inclusive of GST.
When are they valid? A Half Permit is valid for a calendar month and runs from the first day until the last day of the month. You must ensure that you display the correct Half Permit from 8 o’clock on the morning of the first working day each month otherwise you will be issued with an Excess Charge Notice.
How do I use the Half Permit? You display the Half Permit on the inside of your windscreen, making sure that it will not fall off or slip down. You must make sure all the details on the front of your Half Permit are clearly displayed and can be seen from outside the vehicle otherwise you may be issued with an Excess Charge Notice.
Which Car Parks can I use a Half Permit in? You may use a Half Permit in any of the car parks where 1 unit normally covers up to 2 hours. These include:

Can I save money by buying a Half Permit? Yes, you save money if you park for 9 hours a day Monday to Friday.Using a Half Permit also means you do not have to scratch paycards every morning so makes parking easier.
Do I have to give any of my details when buying a Half Permit? No, it really could not be easier. You go to the Car Park Administration Office in Sand Street, pay the cost of the Half Permit and then place it on your vehicle as described above. You do not have to provide any details such as name, address or vehicle registration number.
What happens if I lose my Half Permit? You are responsible for your Half Permit and if you lose it or it is damaged you must either buy a new one or use paycards for the rest of the month. Lost, stolen or damaged Half Permit will not be replaced.
When can I buy a Half Permit? Half Permits are generally available to buy from the 16th of the month before which they are valid. This means for example that a Half Permit for February will be available from the 16th of January.
