Coroners

The function of Coroner in Jersey is carried out by the Deputy Viscount, Mr Peter de Gruchy, together with Jurat Mrs Barbara Myles, OBE, and Dr Margaret Bayes, who are the Relief Coroners. They are supported by the Corporate Services Section of the Viscount’s Department, led by Mrs Louise Cave. Because families will already have had contact with a Police Officer and the Viscount’s Department does not want to add to their distress, the Department generally does not get in touch with families direct.
