Désastre Checks
Confirmation of Declarations “en désastre” (“Désastre checks”)
THIS NOTICE APPLIES ONLY TO PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES
Due to the limited resources available within the Department we are no longer able to accommodate the number of requests for désastre checks which have been requested by telephone or fax at a rate of up to 70 per week. These checks have been carried out virtually instantaneously (“fast-tracked”) without charge.
Owing to increased budgetary constraints and demands on the Department generally it has become necessary to restrict this service from 1st January 2003.
Accordingly please note that that the following arrangements will apply to désastre checks from 1st January 2003.
All declarations “en désastre” made since the coming into force of the Bankruptcy (Désastre) (Jersey) Law, 1990 on 2nd April, 1991, are listed in both alphabetical and chronological order on this website. Please click on the underlined words for a link to the relevant pages. The Department will ensure that any new declarations “en désastre” will be added to this list within two working days of such declaration (most declarations being made on a Friday). Searches using this facility are, naturally, exempt from charge.
All désastre checks requested by telephone or fax will be fast-tracked and charges billed monthly.
The Department will charge at the following rates:
