For clarification, the Government of Jersey made a contribution of £25,000 to HMS Iron Duke in May 2015. The contribution was made via BACS payment to the HMS Iron Duke Central Fund.
The aims of the contribution were:
- To provide a fund for the betterment of HMS Iron Duke’s Ship’s Company in areas not already supported by service funds;
- To bring the families of the Ship’s Company within the welfare umbrella of HMS Iron Duke.
The contribution has been used, for example, to support the crew and families during activations and to enable a Families Day for the Ship’s company. In addition, the fund has also been utilised to assist with training activities.
Please note that that a similar contribution was made to HMS Iron Duke in 2013 by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, as noted in the Financial Report and Accounts 2013 (see page 348 of 2013 accounts – web link below).
