Is there a proposed restructuring of Firefighter roles? For instance that they would be required to undertake desk duties for a period of time.

If so, can you can confirm the calculation of financial benefits for the Government by doing so? For example, by not having to pay Firefighters overtime as any absence could be backfilled by Firefighters on desk duties.

Was not paying overtime considered as a benefit to putting Firefighters on desk duties?

While firefighters have always held roles in various parts of the Service, early policy development is underway to consider further rebalancing of resources to manage risk. Discussions are at an early stage and no details have been finalised.
