B

C

How much did it cost to renovate the old police station for the Sea Cadets new temporary home, again from tax payer funds?

Response

The following table details the funding received by the Sea Cadets from the Government of Jersey (GOJ) over the last five years.

Funds received by Sea Cadets
YearAmount
2020£20,000
2019*£22,000
2018£10,000
2017£10,000
2016£10,000
Total£72,000

*GOJ paid a one off grant for £12,000 in 2019 for property maintenance.

£457,844 has been spent to make areas of the old police headquarters safe for operation by the Sea Cadets.

The work was primarily on the electrical distribution system, fire alarms and emergency lighting. The works were tendered and represent better value than the sums that would have been required to make the previous Sea Cadet’s premises acceptable.
