Request

I would like to know:
A

How many people receiving either Long Term Incapacity Allowance or Invalidity Benefit at the current time

B

Are the Social Security Department advising that they need to find employment.

Response

A

Currently there are 4023 individuals receiving Long Term Incapacity Allowance (LTIA) and 322 individuals receiving Invalidity Benefit.

B

Individuals receiving Invalidity Benefit are not permitted to undertake work while they are receiving this benefit.

Individuals receiving LTIA are permitted to undertake work while they are receiving this benefit.

The eligibility for both Invalidity Benefit and LTIA is based on the individual’s previous contribution record.

There are no requirements within LTIA for the individual to seek work in order to claim LTIA.
