How many Jersey students are being charged international fees by universities or colleges in the UK? Can you list them?
Response
Education, Sport and Culture (ESC) Student Finance does not hold information on students who are charged international fees at the institution they attend. In order to establish which fees in the Student Finance database are international fees, it would be necessary to undertake a line by line search of the student finance database and cross check these with the institutions’ fee schedules. This would take in excess of the 12.5 hour or £500 limit as set out in the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014.
However, ESC Student Finance is aware of four universities that charge international fees to Jersey students. The numbers of students attending these universities in 2015/16 is as follows:
Cambridge University | 3 |
Imperial College | 3 |
Royal Academy of Music | 3 |
Royal Northern College of Music | 7 |
Notes
The above table only reflects those students from Jersey who have registered with Student Finance.
There may be other institutions (particularly small dance / drama / music colleges) which charge international fees, however Student Finance does not keep a list of all such institutions.
