Request
How many fishing boats can fish in our waters each day (maximum amount), before it becomes unsustainable?
Response
The information requested relating to sustainability is not held. Article 10 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
Currently, there is no limit to the number of Jersey fishing licences that can be issued by the Government of Jersey (GOJ) since the Jersey licence operates under the reciprocal licencing arrangements of the Jersey / UK Fisheries Management Agreement.
The UK issue the initial fishing licence and the Jersey licence is an add on to this licence. Further information is held on www.gov.je and can be accessed using the following link.
