Request

I am just curious to know how many Russian, African or Asian farm workers or hospitality industry workers, have not lived up to their visa requirements and not returned home and used Jersey as a possible stepping stone into the UK to claim asylum or refugee status even before Russian citizens fled due to mobilisation.

I know you have no idea if they entered UK or not, but a lot of rumours are circulating this is now a route.

Can you please tell me the number that have not returned to their home nations for respective months after their visa period ran out?

Response

People who overstay their visas potentially become in breach of their immigration conditions and may be subject to further action to either regularise their stay or to be required to leave Jersey.  These decisions are made on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the Jersey Immigration Rules.

No records are kept of people's movements after they leave Jersey.  Any application to claim asylum in the United Kingdom would be considered against the UK Immigration Rules by the UK authorities.
