How much did it cost to put a small pavement on the road side in the FB fields car park and why was it needed?

A kerb was constructed around the FB Playing Fields car park to prevent further damage to the granite boundary wall and fence caused by vehicles reversing into them.
The construction cost for this kerb was £8,000.
